Upcoming SOAR Training -- Information and Timeline


The HMIS Training curriculum has been modified to address training needs for local initiatives, CoC priorities, and additional modules. Each class will be 3 1/2 hours in duration and we have scheduled morning and afternoon sessions to accommodate as many attendees as possible. Classes will be held in a computer lab, each person scheduled will have access to a computer for the duration of class.

Description of the classes is below:

HMIS Basic Workflow Training:
Intended for new users with little or no experience with ServicePoint. Training will focus on the following functionality:

  • System navigation
  • System logic
  • CallPoint
  • ResourcePoint
  • ClientPoint
    • Data collection
    • Households
    • Entry/Exit
    • Assessments
  • Brief overview of:
    • Case management
    • Case plans
    • Reports

HMIS Case Management & Beyond:
Intended for experienced end users and focused on Case Management, Referrals, and ServicePoint Add-on Modules. Training will focus on the following:

  • In depth Case management
    • Goals
    • Action steps
    • Needs
    • Services
  • Case management workflow
  • Troubleshooting client records
  • Beyond case management
    • Referrals
    • EligibilityPoint
  • Coordinated assessment & collaborative case management
  • Additional ServicePoint modules
    • ShelterPoint
    • SkanPoint
    • ActivityPoint

HMIS ART Viewer, Data Quality, & Performance Management:
intended for Agency Management and Leads, focused on reports to monitor Participation, Data Quality, and Performance Management. Training will cover the following:

  • ART Viewer Functionality
  • ART Viewer Available reports
    • Data quality
    • Service volume and bed coverage
    • HUD periodic & summary reports
  • ART Viewer Statistical reports
  • Fixing Data quality issues
  • Monitoring performance and outcomes
  • ReportWriter
  • Working with report data in Microsoft Office Excel

Minimum class participation is four (4) persons. If less than four (4) are scheduled, we will contact the registrants to reschedule to a different time slot. Classes will be held in a computer lab, each person scheduled will have access to a computer for the duration of class. If for any reason you cannot attend, please provide at least one days notice so that we may fill your seat.
